Global Garments Pvt. Ltd. is based at A 37 in Sector 34. If you come by to see us, you’ll hear the sewing machines before you even get through the front door. It’s a busy floor with piles of fabric and thread everywhere you look. We deal with clothes, mostly in big batches for other companies. There’s the smell of hot steam from the irons and the sound of people talking over the noise of the motors. We spend our time checking seams and making sure the colors match the samples on the wall. It’s hard work and it gets quite warm in here during the summer months when the fans aren't enough. We have a lot of metal racks filled with finished shirts and trousers waiting to be packed into brown boxes. Everyone has their own station and their own way of doing things. We’ve been in Sector 34 for a long time now, and we know the delivery drivers by their first names. It’s a practical place, not meant for showing off to guests. We just focus on the stitching and the cutting day after day. Sometimes the thread tangles or an old machine breaks down, and we have to pause everything to fix it. We drink our tea standing up mostly because there is so much to do. It’s a lot of moving around, carrying heavy bundles from one side to the other. We like it that way.
