We are based out of C-6 in Sector-6, which is a pretty standard spot for a business like ours. Iris Apparel is basically a workshop where we deal with fabrics and sewing machines all day long. It gets pretty loud with all the equipment running, and there are bits of thread and cloth everywhere you look on the floor. We aren't some high-end fashion house with a runway; we just make clothes that people can actually wear in their daily lives. Most of us have been working with textiles for a long time, so we know how a seam should look or how a certain fabric will hang after it's cut. Some days are stressful when a deadline is coming up and we still have a mountain of shirts or trousers to finish. We don't have a fancy showroom for people to walk through. If you come by the shop, you'll see people working hard and probably a few big stacks of finished garments waiting to be shipped out. We take care of the cutting, the stitching, and the finishing right here in our own space. Sometimes a needle breaks or a machine jams up, and we just have to pause, fix it, and keep going. It’s a practical business and we like it that way. We focus on the stitches and making sure the sizes are what they say they are on the label. That's the way we've always done things here in Sector-6.
