If you come down to Plot No. 12C in the Gurukul Indraprastha Industrial Estate, you’ll find us at Reliable Diesel Engineers Pvt. Ltd. It’s out in Sarai Khwaja, and it’s a heavy industrial kind of place. There’s always the smell of diesel and engine oil in the air. It’s on your clothes and under your fingernails, no matter how much you scrub. The workshop is big and open, which is good because these engines take up a lot of room. We have cranes and heavy tools hanging from the walls. It’s loud, especially when we’re testing a motor and the whole floor starts to vibrate. We don't have a quiet area for meetings. If we need to talk, we just shout over the noise or step outside by the gate. The office part of the building is just a small room with a few filing cabinets and a computer that’s seen better days. We spend our time fixing things that have broken down and making sure they’re put back together right. It’s dirty, heavy work, and we’re usually exhausted by the end of the shift. We don't have a mission statement on the wall; we just have a rack of specialized wrenches. It’s a plain, honest way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it at this spot for quite a while now. Some days are longer than others.
