We are based in a duplex over at A 140 in Rajat Vihar, which is in Sector 62 of Noida. This area is always changing, and we have seen so many new buildings and roads go up around us since we moved in. We handle a large part of the planning and engineering tasks from this house-turned-office. It feels a bit more relaxed than being in one of those huge glass high-rises, but the work we do is still very serious. We deal with pipelines and other big infrastructure bits. Most of the people working here have been with the company for a long time, so we know how to handle the glitches that come up. There is a small garden area out front that we try to keep tidy, though it’s hard in the summer heat. Inside, it is mostly just desks and big stacks of blueprints that seem to grow every week. We stay on the phone with the sites all day to make sure things are moving along. The commute to Sector 62 is okay for most of the staff. We usually have our tea breaks together in the small kitchen area. It is not a corporate showroom, just a practical place where we put in the hours. We spend a lot of time looking at numbers and charts. It takes a lot of coordination to get things right. Sometimes the AC stops working when it’s 45 degrees outside, which is always a bad day.
