North East Garments Pvt Ltd is tucked into A-17 over in Sector-5. It is a standard industrial unit, nothing special to look at from the outside. Inside, it is a different story with rows of sewing machines and rolls of fabric stacked up to the ceiling. We spend our days mostly cutting patterns and stitching things together. It is a lot of repetitive work, but you have to pay attention or you will mess up a whole batch of sleeves or collars. The staff here has been together for a while, so we all know who is good at what. Some of us are better at the finishing touches, while others just want to power through the bulk of the sewing. We have a small area where we check for loose threads and make sure the sizes are right. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment of cloth arrives because we do not have a ton of extra floor space. The windows stay open most of the time to let some air in, though it does not help much in July. We are not trying to be a high-end fashion house or anything. We just make clothes that people can actually use. Our days start early and we usually leave when the sun is going down. It is just steady work, keeping the needles moving and making sure the boxes are packed. Sector-5 is a busy place, and we are just one part of the noise.
