Milap Tailors Dresses

Our shop, Milap Tailors Dresses, is located in Lower Bazar right across from the Oil Mill Gate. It is a busy little corner of the world. We spend our days surrounded by the sound of sewing machines and the chatter of people walking by the Oil Mill Gate. The shop itself is quite narrow, so we have to use the wall space for all our threads and tools. We focus on making dresses and doing all kinds of tailoring. It’s the kind of place where you can come in and talk directly to the person who is going to be doing the sewing. We don't have any sales staff or managers. It is just us doing the work. The floor is usually a bit cluttered with scraps of silk and cotton, but we try to keep it tidy enough to walk around. Lower Bazar is a place where you have to work hard to keep up with everyone else. We have been here for a long time, watching the gate across the street open and close every day. We don't bother with fancy signs or advertisements. We figure if the work is good, people will find us eventually. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to redo a seam, but that’s just how it goes when you work with your hands. We like the routine of it all—opening up, heating the iron, and getting started on the pile of work waiting for us. It is just a normal local business.
