Milap Tailors And Dresses is situated right opposite the Oil Mill Gate in Lower Bazar. If you know the Lower Bazar area, you know it is one of the busiest spots you can find. There is always the smell of the mill and the sound of trucks moving nearby. Our shop is a bit old-fashioned. We have the same wooden chairs and the same heavy iron we have used for years. We do a lot of tailoring work, mostly fixing things or making new dresses from scratch. People come in with fabric they bought elsewhere and we help them turn it into something they can wear. The counter is usually piled high with finished clothes waiting for pickup. Sometimes we lose track of time because there is so much to do. We don't really follow the latest trends from the big cities. We just make what the local people ask for. It is a small space, so we have to be organized, though it doesn't always look that way to a stranger. There is a lot of dust from the street that comes in, so we are always wiping things down. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the bazaar. We just want to do a decent job so people come back next time they need a suit or a dress altered. It’s a steady life and we like the people who stop by just to chat for a minute while they wait for their measurements to be taken.
