Down at 109 Tech 2 in Udyog Vihar Extension, that’s where you will find us. The area is always humming with the sound of other factories and units nearby. In our workspace at M M Fashion, we have several rows of sewing machines and long cutting tables. It’s usually a bit chaotic with scraps of fabric on the floor and spools of thread everywhere. We don't really have a reception area, you just walk right into where the work is happening. Gautam Budh Nagar gets quite dusty, so we are always covering the finished pieces with plastic sheets. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to be finished before the morning. The commute here is okay, though the roads can get pretty bad after it rains. We have a small stove in the corner for making tea, which is pretty much the fuel for this place. It’s not a quiet job. There is always the sound of stitching and people talking over the machines. We’ve had to fix the roof a couple of times because of leaks during the monsoon. It’s just an honest day's work for us. We don't put on any acts; what you see is what you get when you visit. The shelves are packed with rolls of cotton and polyester in every color you can think of. We just try to keep our heads down and do the work right every single day.
