Ludhiana Garments is situated in the Sector 27 Roopchand & Sons Market in Atta. If you have been to Atta, you know how crowded and loud it gets. Our shop is right in the middle of all that energy. We have bags of clothes arriving throughout the week, and we spend a lot of time sorting through them. The market has a history, and we feel like a small part of that tradition. There are racks of sweaters, shirts, and trousers everywhere you look. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room for all the stock we have. People come from all over to shop in Atta because of the variety. We have a small counter where we wrap things up in plastic bags. The floor is old stone and shows the wear and tear of many years. We don't have any fancy music playing, just the sounds of the vendors outside calling out. It gets really hot in the summer, but we have a cooler that helps a little bit. We know the other shopkeepers in the Roopchand building, and we often share tea in the afternoons. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t change the window display very often, maybe once a month. It’s just about having the right clothes ready when someone walks in off the street and wants to look around.
