We are located at C-57 in the Hosiery Complex, Phase II Extension. This is an industrial area, so it’s full of trucks and the sounds of other factories nearby. Our space is pretty large because we need room for the machines and all the shipping boxes. It’s not the kind of place you come for a relaxing stroll; it’s a working building. The walls are painted a plain off-white, and there are posters about safety taped up near the exits. I spend a lot of my time walking between the rows of tables where the clothes are being checked and folded. It can get quite loud when everything is running at once. The smell of new fabric and machine oil is always in the air. We have a small break room where we keep a kettle and some biscuits. The windows are high up, so you can’t see much of the outside, just the tops of other buildings in the complex. Sometimes the loading dock gets backed up, and we have to move things around manually to make space. It’s a lot of physical work, keeping track of all the inventory and making sure the labels are right. We don’t have fancy carpets or a reception desk with flowers. It’s just a practical setup for making clothes in bulk. We stay busy with the orders, and the day usually goes by pretty fast once the machines start up in the morning.
