Computer Operator

Our small setup is tucked away in Delta-1 over in Greater Noida. If you know the area, Pocket E-60 is fairly quiet compared to the main roads near the bigger malls. I spend most of my day sitting in front of the screen, typing out documents and handling the data entry that people bring in. It's just me and a couple of computers, really. The fans hum all day and it gets a bit stuffy in the summer, but we manage with what we have. People from the nearby blocks usually drop by when they need something printed or if they have some digital work they can't figure out themselves. I’ve been doing this for a while now, so the keys feel natural under my fingers. Sometimes the internet acts up, which is a real pain, but that’s just how things go here. I try to stay on top of the files and make sure nothing gets lost in the folders. It isn't a big corporate job, but it’s steady. I usually have my tea around four o'clock while the last few jobs are finishing up. The streets outside are usually full of people coming back from work in the evenings. It’s a simple life, mostly just staring at the monitor and making sure the numbers and letters match up with what’s on the paper. I don’t mind the quiet times because it gives me a chance to organize the desk, which always seems to get buried under scrap paper.
