Down in Sector 58 of Noida, you’ll find us at Factory No B 17. It's a busy industrial area, so there is always a lot of dust and the sound of trucks reversing. Avid Apparel Industries has been operating out of this unit for a good while. It's a big open space with high ceilings and rows of workstations. We don't have a reception desk or anything like that; you just walk in and see people working. The floors are concrete and there are usually scraps of fabric near the cutting tables. It gets pretty loud when all the machines are running at once, which is most of the day. We focus on getting the production numbers right and making sure the quality is okay before things go out the door. The heat in the summer can be tough, even with the big industrial fans blowing. We take our breaks together and talk about whatever is on the news. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it’s what we do. The loading dock is always a mess of cardboard boxes and plastic wrap. We've had the same crew for a long time, so everyone knows their role without being told. It isn't a glamorous job, but we take it seriously enough. Most of the time, our hands are busy and our eyes are on the fabric. If you come by, you'll see a lot of activity and probably get asked to watch your step because there is always something moving.
