Abhishek Fashion Centre

You’ll find Abhishek Fashion Centre at F 1/13 in Sector 12. We are right near the Pani Ki Tanki in Simla Market, which is how most people find us. That big water tank is a landmark around here. Simla Market is a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it, but once you find our row, we’re easy enough to spot. The shop isn't very large. It’s mostly taken up by the big table where we do all the measuring and the heavy iron we use for pressing the clothes. I’ve been at Abhishek Fashion Centre for quite a while, and I’ve memorized every creak in the floorboards. We keep the walls painted a simple white, though they could probably use a fresh coat soon. There’s always a stack of fabric books sitting on the chair for people to look through while they wait. I spend my afternoons dealing with the heat and trying to get the orders finished on time for our customers. The market gets very lively in the evenings when everyone finishes their work for the day. I like to stand by the door for a minute and watch the sun go down over Sector 12. It’s a nice neighborhood, very friendly. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles here. It’s just a place where we work with our hands and try to make things that fit right. Some days the thread gets tangled and the machine jams, but that’s just part of the job. We keep going.
