Mohan Earth Movers

We’ve been working out of Door No 6-52 in Basheerabad for a good while now. Kammarpally is a quiet place usually, but things get noisy when we start up the earth movers. Nizamabad has some tough ground, and moving that dirt around takes a lot of time and effort. Most of our days are spent out on various sites, just digging and clearing space. The machines are heavy and they need a lot of looking after, so I’m often found with a wrench in my hand. It’s not a clean job by any means. There is dust everywhere, on our clothes and in the machines. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. We just have the yard and the equipment. People in the area know us and they just come by the house when they need something dug up or moved. Sometimes the sun is really hot and makes the metal on the machines burn to the touch. We just keep going until the work is finished for the day. It’s a basic way to make a living, but it’s what we know. You can see our tracks in the soil all over this part of the district. We don't do any big talking, we just get the buckets in the ground and move the earth. When the day is over, we park the machines back at Basheerabad and get ready for the next morning. It’s just how things go for us. We keep the grease guns full.
