Gundaiah Genaral Store

We have been operating Gundaiah Genaral Store for a while now here in Kothapally. It's located right at H-No 5-100/1, and mostly we just deal with the folks around Jannepalli and Makloor. The store isn't very big, but we try to stock what people actually need on a daily basis. You’ll find grains, some soaps, and the kids usually come around in the evening for whatever snacks we have on the counter. The dust from the road gets inside sometimes, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and the bags of rice. It gets pretty hot in Nizamabad during the afternoons, and the fan in the corner barely does much, but we stay open anyway. We don't have a fancy computer system or anything like that. Everything is written down in a notebook when the stock comes in. Sometimes a shipment is late because the truck had trouble on the highway, and we just have to tell the neighbors to come back tomorrow. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. If someone is short a few rupees, we just catch up with them next time they pass by. That’s just how it works here in the village. We wake up early to get things ready before the sun gets too high. It is a simple place, nothing special to look at, but it keeps us busy every day.
