If you look for us, you’ll find Zishah Shawls up on the third floor of G-136/17 in Zakir Nagar. It’s a bit of a climb, but the space works for what we do. Jamia Nagar is always busy, so there is never a quiet moment outside the window. We spend our days surrounded by wool and different types of wraps. It’s a small operation, really. Usually, it's just the sound of someone checking the inventory or the hum of the fans when it gets hot in the afternoon. We have been here in New Delhi for some time now, just focusing on our daily tasks. There isn't any fancy decor in the office. We keep it simple with some desks and plenty of storage racks for the stock. When people ask what we do, we just say we handle shawls. It is a straightforward business. Sometimes the stairs feel a bit much after a long day, but being on the third floor gives us a little bit of a break from the street noise below. We deal with suppliers and try to keep things organized, which isn't always easy when things get busy. Every morning starts with a quick cleanup and then we dive into whatever needs finishing. It’s a local way of working, without any big corporate rules or complicated systems. We just show up and do the work. The area has a lot of character and we are glad to be part of the neighborhood.
