Silk India

Silk India is tucked away at F 10/41 6/4 in the Jogabai Extension of Zakir Nagar. This is a very crowded neighborhood with narrow lanes and lots of people. Finding our place can be a bit of a challenge if you aren't used to the area. We have been working out of this space for quite some time. It is a bit cramped inside because we have so much stock piled up. We deal with silk and other fabrics, and the shelves are usually overflowing. There is no fancy sign out front, just our name and the work we do. The lighting inside is a bit yellow, which gives everything a warm feel, even on cloudy days. We usually have a radio playing in the background while we work. It helps pass the time when we are doing inventory. Zakir Nagar has a very specific vibe, and we feel like a part of the local fabric here. We don't have a big marketing budget or a social media manager. We just rely on the people who walk through the door or hear about us from their neighbors. It is a very hands-on business. We touch every piece of fabric that comes through here. It is just a simple way of living and working in a busy part of the city. We don't need things to be perfect, we just need them to be real.
