Being over here in Shahdara, the University College Of Medical Sciences is always a hive of activity. It’s not just a college where students sit in lectures; it’s a place where things are happening every minute. You have people coming and going from the hospital side, and students in white coats rushing between buildings. The air always feels a bit heavy with the smell of medicines and the general busyness of a big medical campus. We spend our time managing the daily administrative side of things, which can be quite a headache with so many people to keep track of. The corridors are long and usually crowded. It’s an old place with a lot of history, and you can see it in the walls and the way the grounds are laid out. We aren't here to make things look pretty or polished; we are here to keep the wheels turning so the teaching and the clinical work can happen. There’s a lot of noise from the surrounding Delhi streets, but once you get deep into the campus, it’s mostly just the sound of people talking or the occasional siren. Life here is fast. You don't really get a chance to slow down. We just focus on the tasks at hand, whether it's filing papers or making sure the lecture halls are unlocked in the morning. It is a busy life for the staff here, but we are used to the pace of Shahdara.
