Our office is on the sixth floor of Padma Tower, which is at 605 Rafi Marg. It is quite close to Rajendra Place, so it is a very busy part of the city. The elevators in this building can be a bit slow during the morning rush, so sometimes we just take the stairs if we aren't carrying too much. The view from the office isn't much to look at, just more buildings and the tops of cars, but we aren't here for the scenery. We spend most of our time at Udit Engineers staring at screens or talking on the phone with suppliers. It gets a bit noisy with the city sounds drifting up, but you learn to block it out after a week or two. The office itself is pretty basic. We have some desks, some chairs that have seen better days, and a corner where we keep the kettle for tea. We don't have a receptionist, so if someone knocks, whoever is closest to the door gets up to see who it is. It’s a very straightforward way of working. We don't go in for fancy meetings or long speeches. We just handle the engineering tasks as they come in. Lunch is usually a quick affair from one of the nearby stalls or a tiffin brought from home. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people trying to do a decent job.
