Jupitor Tools at K-55 New Mahavir Nagar. Near the Janakpuri East Metro. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but not too bad. The shop is filled with all kinds of tools and hardware. Honestly, it’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we have boxes stacked up to the ceiling. You can smell the grease and the metal as soon as you step inside. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but it’s a workshop, so that’s expected. We spend most of our time looking for specific parts for people who aren't quite sure what they need. The metro train rumbles past every few minutes and you can feel it slightly in the floorboards. It’s a noisy neighborhood. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything. Just some shelves and a counter where we talk to customers. Sometimes the overhead lights flicker, and we keep saying we’ll fix them, but then we get busy with an order and forget. Most of the guys working here have been around for years. We know the regulars by name and what they usually buy. It’s hard work, moving heavy crates and keeping track of inventory on these old clipboards. We just keep at it every day, making sure things get where they need to go. It’s a living, and it keeps us busy enough in this part of Delhi. We just open up the shutters every morning and see what the day brings.
