The Sensation

If you are looking for us, you have to head up to the 4th floor at 1224/5 in Nai Wala. It is building number 402. Being up that high in Karol Bagh means you get away from some of the street noise, but the heat still finds you. The Sensation is basically just a few rooms filled with stock. Carrying everything up those stairs is a workout, I can tell you that. We spend a lot of time opening boxes and checking tags. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the stacks of items reaching toward the ceiling. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out with the windows open. You can see the rooftops of other shops from here. We aren't trying to be anything fancy, just a place where we do our business every day. Most of our visitors are people who have been coming to this building for years. We know the tea seller downstairs and the guy who handles the deliveries. It’s a tight-knit community in this part of Delhi. My desk is tucked in the corner behind a pile of crates. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know exactly where everything is located. The days are long and we usually don’t head home until the sun is well down and the market starts to quiet. It's just a lot of lifting and sorting in a crowded building.
