You can find me at 892 Patiala House Courts. It’s a busy place, as you can imagine. Being at the court all day means Ruby Gutam is usually surrounded by a lot of noise and people rushing around. My space is small and filled with law books and stacks of paper that seem to never end. It’s the kind of environment where you’re always on your feet or typing away at something urgent. There’s no fancy office decor here, just the essentials needed to get through the day's cases. I spend a lot of time walking between the different rooms and talking to clients in the hallways. It’s a lot of work and sometimes it gets quite exhausting with the heat and the crowds. People come to me when they have legal troubles, and I just try to listen and figure out the best way forward for them. It’s not like what you see on TV; it’s mostly just a lot of reading and waiting for your turn. The tea man around the corner knows exactly how I like my chai because I'm there so often. This job takes up most of my life, but it’s what I do. I’ve been at Patiala House long enough to know the shortcuts and the quiet corners. It’s a tough place to work, but it’s home.
