You’ll find S. M. K. C. International at 67 Shyam Nagar. We’re right near the Chandiwala Estate in the Okhla Industrial area. It’s a gritty part of town but perfect for what we do. The noise from the nearby factories is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. Our building is a solid concrete structure that’s seen better days. Inside, it’s all about the work. We have rows of shelves and a few desks tucked into the corners. The lighting isn't the best, so we use extra lamps when it gets dark. Most of our day is spent handling shipments and talking to drivers. Okhla is always congested, so getting anything in or out takes longer than you’d think. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. There isn't any fancy decor here. We just have the essentials. Sometimes the dust from the industrial estate blows in through the vents, so we're always wiping down the tables. We’ve been here for years and know all the tea sellers on the corner. It’s a tough place to work sometimes because of the heat and the noise, but it’s home for us. We don’t put on any shows for anyone. What you see is what you get. Just people working hard to get the orders filled and sent off on time. It’s a long day, every day, but we manage to get everything sorted before we head home for the night.
