Private School

The school is located at G_9/212 in Sangam Vihar. It is a busy, crowded neighborhood and our building is right in the middle of it all. Every morning starts with the sound of kids arriving and the general chaos of a school day beginning. We are not a big, fancy international school with a swimming pool. We are a local place where the classrooms are simple and the hallways are narrow. The walls have been painted a few times but you can still see where the kids have scuffed them up over the years. We spend our time teaching, grading papers, and making sure the students stay out of trouble during the break. There is always a layer of dust because of the construction nearby, so we are constantly cleaning. The teachers' room is small and we all share a kettle for tea. Sometimes the bells do not work right and we have to shout to let everyone know it is time for the next period. It is a noisy, lively place to be. We do not have a big corporate board, just a few of us trying to keep the school running and the kids learning their lessons. It is hard work and the pay is not great, but it feels like we are doing something useful for the neighborhood. By the time the final bell rings, we are exhausted, but the place feels empty without the noise.
