Prudence School is tucked away in Block C of Ashok Vihar II, and if you live in the neighborhood, you probably know the sound of our bell. It’s a bit of a residential area, so we try not to be too much of a nuisance to the neighbors, though that’s hard when three hundred kids are running out for break at the same time. The school building isn't anything super modern; it’s just a solid structure that does the job. Most of us who work here have been doing this for years, so we know which doors stick and which windows let in a draft when it rains. We spend a lot of time just managing the day-to-day stuff, like making sure the water coolers are full and the registers are marked. It’s not always glamorous. Sometimes the playground gets a bit dusty when the wind picks up, and we’re constantly sweeping the front steps. You’ll see the teachers huddled together having a quick tea before the first period starts. We don't really do the whole corporate polish thing. Life here is mostly about getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids aren't making too much of a mess in the canteen. It’s a straightforward operation. We’ve seen a lot of local families pass through these gates over the years, and the routine hasn't changed much. It’s just how things are in this part of Ashok Vihar.
