Dakshini Block Ae is where you’ll find us. Most locals just call us the school by the market in Shalimar Bagh. This building has been standing for a long time. Even if the walls need a bit of paint, the place feels like home to those of us who work here. Our watchman is usually the first one at the gate every single morning. Before the lessons start, students hang out on the courtyard benches to talk. The classrooms are pretty basic. We have these old wooden desks that are showing their age, but they still work fine. If you need a break from the noise, the small library is the only quiet spot we have. Teaching here keeps us on our feet because the days feel long. Seeing the same faces year after year makes the effort worthwhile, though. We deal with regular problems like broken chalk or windows that won't stay shut. Lunch is a simple affair where the staff eats together in a tiny break room. It isn't a corporate setup. We’re just a part of the community where local kids come to study. We recognize the siblings and know which families live just a few doors down. Life here is simple, mostly just making sure the bells ring when they are supposed to. We keep the routine going and hope the kids get what they need. It’s a decent place to spend the day and we're used to the noise and the busy mornings.
