Our office is over in D-1302 at the Azadpur New Sabji Mandi. It’s a busy part of the city, and there is always something moving around outside our door. We deal with seeds, so our talk usually revolves around the weather and what the ground looks like this time of year. It’s not a flashy business. We spend a lot of time looking at bags and checking labels to make sure everything is where it should be. The walls of the shop are lined with different varieties, and we keep things organized the best we can, though it gets a bit messy when a big shipment arrives. Farmers stop by to ask what’s good for the next planting season. We just give them the straight answer based on what we have in stock. There is no point in complicating things. The mandi can be a tough place to work because of the dust and the constant noise of the trucks, but we are used to it now. We’ve been at this location for a good while. Most of the guys in the neighboring blocks know us by name. We aren't trying to build an empire; we just want to make sure the people who come to D-1302 get what they need so they can get back to their fields. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting followed by bursts of heavy lifting. That’s just the way the seed trade goes for us every day.
