Down here on 4th Cross, near the Vijayachandra Kalyana Mantapa, things stay pretty loud. Sunkadakatte is a busy area, and being right off Magadi Main Road means there’s constant traffic. We’ve got units 29 and 30, which gives us enough room for the machines and some space to move around. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by midday, but we sweep up before heading home. It’s honest work. Most of us arrive early to beat the worst of the heat. The building has seen better days, the paint is peeling in some spots, but it holds up. We don't have a fancy reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. You just walk in and find whoever is available. We handle a lot of different jobs, mostly things people bring in that need fixing or custom parts. My hands are usually greasy by ten AM, and that’s just part of the life here. We take our breaks together, sitting on whatever stools or crates are handy. The road outside is always dusty because of the construction that seems to never end. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time backing into the narrow street, so we have to go out and help guide them. It’s a simple setup, no frills, just us and the tools we use every single day to get the jobs done. It's how it's always been.
