We’ve been tucked away at 4047, Naya Bazar for quite some time now. It’s one of those spots where you can always hear the noise of the market right outside the door. Mega Grain Trading Co. Pvt. Ltd. is just us doing our daily work with the grains that come through this part of town. Most mornings start early, usually before the sun is up, because that’s when the first deliveries tend to arrive. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of what’s in the bags, making sure the grain looks right and isn't dusty or damp. It’s a lot of manual labor, honestly. We aren't sitting in some air-conditioned high-rise. We’re right here in the thick of the bazar. The walls are a bit scuffed and there’s always a fine layer of dust on the ledges, but that’s just how it is when you deal with this kind of trade. We have a couple of old fans that struggle in the summer heat, and the tea guy comes by twice a day, which is usually the highlight of our afternoons. People stop by 4047 to talk business or just to check on market prices, and we try to keep things simple. No one here is wearing a suit. We just wear what’s comfortable for moving around. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have a lot of stock, but we manage. We just do our work and hope the rain stays away so the bags stay dry.
