Ram Raj Saree Store is at No. 67 in the Central Market of Lajpat Nagar. If you know the market, you know it's always packed with people looking for deals. We’ve been here in this same spot for a long time. Our walls are covered in sarees of every color you can think of. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day long. Customers come in and want to see fifty different styles before picking one, and that’s fine. It’s just how it is. The market can be exhausting with all the shouting and the crowds, but we like the energy. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they look at the silks and cottons. The shop is a bit cramped because we try to keep so much stock on hand. Sometimes the lights go out when the market grid gets overloaded, but we just light a few candles and keep going. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are by word of mouth. We’re just regular folks running a shop in a busy place. It’s hard work, but we’re used to it. On festival days, the market stays open late and we barely have time to eat. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else, though. This market is our life and No. 67 is our second home. We just take things as they come and try to stay cheerful.
