If you have ever been to Patiala House Courts you know how the energy is. It’s a constant rush of people, lawyers in black coats, and stacks of files everywhere. I am located in Chamber 202. It is not a very large space but it is where I spend most of my waking hours. The walls are lined with old law books and folders that have seen better days. You can hear the hum of the crowd outside in the hallways all day long. It is a place of work, not a place for comfort. I don’t have a fancy coffee machine or leather sofas. Just a couple of wooden chairs for whoever needs to sit down and talk for a few minutes. The lighting isn't the best in the room but it’s enough to read the fine print if you squint a bit. People come in with all sorts of worries and I just try to listen and see what can be done. It’s a tough environment sometimes because everyone is in a hurry and the air feels heavy with everyone's problems. But being in the middle of it at 202 is just part of the life I chose. I don’t go around making big claims about my work. I just take the files as they come and do the work that is required. It is a simple honest way to spend a career in the legal system.
