About Krishan Sweets – Food & Beverages in New Delhi
We open up early at Khanna Market. The morning starts with lighting the stove and getting the milk ready. It’s been years now at shop number 67. People stop by on Lodhi Road while going to work. Sometimes it’s just for a quick snack or to pack something for home. It gets quite crowded in the evenings when families come out. The floor gets a bit sticky with sugar sometimes, but that’s just how it is when you’re making sweets all day. We mostly just focus on getting things done. There’s always someone coming in asking if the samosas are hot yet. We don’t have much space for people to sit, but they don't seem to mind standing and eating. My father used to handle things here before me, and not much has changed in the shop. The shelves are the same old ones. We know most of the people around here by name. It’s a busy spot. We keep the boxes stacked up ready for the festival rush. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard for deliveries to reach us, but we manage. It’s just a regular local place where you get what you see on the counter. We don't do anything fancy, just the basic stuff that people like to eat every day after work or during tea time. We keep the glass cases clean, but there are always fresh fingerprints by noon.
