This little operation runs out of Shiwapar in Sadar, specifically at Mrs. Rita Singh’s house. We are a group of folks who decided that sitting around complaining about crop prices wasn't doing us any good. So, we started Kpgd Farmer Welfare And Agro Marketing Producer Company Limited. The name is a mouthful, I know, but it basically means we look out for each other and try to sell our stuff together. Marketing sounds like a big city word, but for us, it just means finding someone who wants to buy our vegetables or grain for a fair price. We spend a lot of time talking under the trees or sitting on the porch at Rita’s place. Some of us have been farming since we were kids, and we have seen the seasons change many times. Sometimes the rain stays away too long, and other times there is too much of it. We just try to help each other get through those times. We don't have any shiny brochures or a big sales team. It is just the neighbors coming together to see how we can make things work a little better for everyone in the village. It is not always easy to coordinate so many different people, but we are getting the hang of it slowly. Every day brings a new problem to solve, but that is part of the job when you live off the land. Usually, we finish up when it gets dark and the bugs start biting.
