Dress U Up Delhi

Kirti Nagar is a place most people know for furniture, but our spot at C-86 is all about the clothes. Being in Delhi, the weather is always doing something extreme, either too hot or too cold, so we spend a lot of time adjusting the shop environment. It’s a pretty standard building. We have the racks lined up against the walls and a couple of mirrors for people to see how things look. I usually get in to Dress U Up Delhi around ten and start by sweeping the floor. There’s a lot of dust that comes in from the main road. The neighborhood is full of other shops and warehouses, so there’s always a truck backing up or someone shouting. We don't have a massive team, just a few of us making sure the outfits are clean and pinned correctly. People mostly find us because they were already in the area for something else. I like to keep the window display updated, though it’s a bit of a pain to change the clothes on those heavy mannequins. Sometimes I wonder if we should move things around, but the current layout seems to work for the space we have. It’s a practical way to spend the day. We deal with all sorts of people, some who are in a hurry and some who want to spend an hour looking at one dress. We just go with the flow and try to keep things moving along.
