About Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tughalakabad – Education in New Delhi
Being inside the A.F.S. Tughlakabad area makes things a bit different for us here at Kendriya Vidyalaya. You have to go through the security gates, so it feels very quiet and separated from the rest of the city. The school has a lot of open space around it, which is nice because the kids have room to run. We see the planes and stuff occasionally, which always gets the younger ones looking out the windows instead of at their notebooks. The building is older, with those high ceilings and wide corridors that stay relatively cool even when it is hot outside. We have the usual rows of wooden benches and those heavy green boards. The teachers here have been around for years, and they know most of the families who live on the base. We start our day with the national anthem, and you can hear it echoing across the grounds. There is a lot of paperwork to do, as is common with government schools. We keep the library stocked with old books that the kids still enjoy reading. During the breaks, everyone heads out to the fields. The grass isn't always green, but it’s a good spot for a game of football. We just go about our business, teaching the lessons and preparing for the next set of exams. It's a steady, predictable life here in Tughlakabad, and we like the routine of the school year.
