Antique Jamawar Shawls

If you walk down Bhogal Road in Jangpura, you’ll find us at House No. 3 on the first floor. Antique Jamawar Shawls is basically just a few rooms filled with piles and piles of wool and fabric. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of all the old textiles we keep around, but that’s just part of the trade. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns and checking for small snags in the threads. Jangpura is a tight-knit area, so we see the same faces every day outside the window. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re carrying a big bundle of shawls. We don’t have a big sign or bright lights. Mostly, people find Antique Jamawar Shawls because they heard about us from someone else. It's quiet in here compared to the main road. Sometimes we sit and drink chai while we wait for a delivery. The shawls take up most of the space, so we have to move things around just to sit down. We’ve been at this address for a while now and it feels like home. There isn't any fancy computer system or high-tech equipment. Just us, some wooden shelves, and a lot of hand-checked items. It’s slow work, but that’s how these shawls are handled. We just stay busy and keep the shelves stocked for whenever someone drops by.
