You can find Iqra Fashion at C- 121 in Jamia Nagar, Okhla. It’s a very lively neighborhood, to say the least. There are always people on the streets, kids playing, and the smell of food from the local vendors. Our place at C- 121 is where we do all our work. It’s not a big factory or a high-end boutique; it’s more of a workspace where we get things done. We focus on fashion, mostly traditional stuff that people around here like. My uncle started this place a long time ago and we’ve just kept it going. We have a few sewing machines and a large table for cutting fabric. The light in the back room isn't very good, so we do most of the detailed work near the front window. Okhla is a busy area for this kind of work, so we have lots of friends in the same business nearby. We often borrow supplies from each other when we run out. It’s a very tight-knit community here in Jamia Nagar. We don't spend money on big ads or fancy signs. Most people just walk in because they saw us working through the door. It’s a simple life and the work is hard on the back, but we enjoy being our own bosses. We usually close up late in the evening when the street finally starts to quiet down a little bit and we can finally think.
