High School Daru

If you look for us in Mangolpuri, you will find us at House Number 935 and 936. We’ve used these two houses to create a space for our school. It’s right in the middle of the neighborhood, so we are surrounded by houses and small shops. This isn't a big institutional building with a gate and a guard; it’s more like being part of the street itself. The rooms are what you’d expect from a house converted into a school—some are a bit small and others have more space for the bigger classes. We’ve got blackboards and desks squeezed in where they fit. The kids walk to school because they mostly live just a few lanes away. You can hear the neighborhood sounds all day, like people selling things or neighbors talking. It makes the school feel like it belongs to the community. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website. We just have our daily schedule and the teachers who show up to help the children with their studies. Sometimes the fans are loud or the floors need a good scrub after a rainy day, but that’s part of life here. We just try to keep things steady and make sure the students are getting their work done. It’s a very local operation and we prefer it that way because we know everyone around here and they know us, which makes it feel like home.
