Helianthus School

Helianthus School is on the ground floor at 478 B in Hardev Puri. Gautam Nagar is a crowded place, and we are right in the thick of it. Being on the ground floor means we see everyone passing by. It’s a humble setup. We don’t have a massive campus with gates and guards, just our entrance on the street. Inside, it’s cozy. The rooms are partitioned off to make space for different groups. We’ve painted some of the walls to make it look a bit more cheerful, but you can still tell it’s an old building. We deal with the usual Delhi problems, like the noise from the street or the occasional water issue. But we make it work. The staff here lives close by mostly. We use simple benches and desks. There is a small corner where we keep some books and old toys. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. We don’t put on airs. When a parent comes in, they sit on the same plastic chairs we use. We talk about the kids and their homework. It’s very direct. The address is 110049, but to us, it’s just home for a few hours every day. Sometimes the light in the hallway flickers, and we remind ourselves to get it fixed. It’s a real place with real people and a lot of heart in a busy neighborhood.
