Hedaginabele School

Running Hedaginabele School here in Agcr Enclave is a lot of work but it feels right. We are at 289, right in the middle of Karkardooma. Most mornings start with the sound of the gate creaking and parents dropping off their little ones. It gets pretty loud once the kids settle in. The building isn't huge, but it fits everyone fine. We spend our days making sure the classrooms are tidy and the books are ready. Sometimes the power goes out and we just open the windows to let the breeze in. It is a quiet part of Delhi mostly, though traffic picks up around noon. We have been here for a bit now. The walls are covered in drawings from last year and some from this month. We don’t have fancy stuff but we have enough chairs and desks for everyone who comes. There is a small space where kids keep their bags. You can hear the teachers talking from the street if you walk by. It’s a normal place where things happen slowly but surely. We keep track of attendance in big registers. Often, we find ourselves cleaning up pencil shavings or stray pieces of paper after the final bell. People in the neighborhood know us by now. It’s just us doing what we do every day. Sometimes there’s tea in the afternoon for the staff when it’s quiet. That’s about it for our daily life here.
