Haveli (The Designer Wear)

We are located right in Subram Apartments in Munirka. It’s a busy area in Delhi, but our spot is tucked away in unit 69. We do designer clothes here, mostly stuff that people want for special days or just to look a bit better. We started this because we liked making things that didn't look like everything else you see in the big malls. It’s a small operation, mostly just a few of us working with fabric and needles all day. The space is a bit cramped because of all the rolls of cloth and the machines, but it works for what we need. People usually hear about us from their friends or neighbors who live nearby. We don't do much advertising. We just sit here and work. Sometimes it gets noisy outside with the traffic, but inside we are just focused on getting the stitching right. We've lived in Delhi a long time and decided that Munirka was a good place to set up because it's central enough for people to reach. It’s not a big showroom with lights and mirrors everywhere. It’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. We spend a lot of time talking to folks about what they want to wear. It’s a simple way to run things, and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. It is hard work, but we like seeing the finished clothes and knowing they are going to someone who will use them.
