Gyandeep Public School

Gyandeep Public School is at Building Number 481 on Hanuman Mandir Road. Being in the Chirag area of Delhi, zip code 110017, means we are right in the middle of a very busy neighborhood. You can often hear the sounds from the road and the temple nearby while classes are going on. The building is a bit older, with several floors connected by some narrow stairs that the kids run up and down all day. We have classrooms that have seen a lot of students over the years, and the walls have that lived-in look. We don’t have a big fancy campus with a swimming pool or anything like that. It’s a local public school where the focus is just on the daily lessons and getting the syllabus finished on time. The teachers share a small staff room where there’s usually a pot of tea and stacks of notebooks waiting to be checked. During the break, the kids spill out into the hallways or the small open area we have. Chirag is a crowded spot, so getting to the school in the morning can be a bit of a struggle with all the rickshaws and walkers on Hanuman Mandir Road. But once the gates are closed, we just get on with the day’s schedule. We have some plants in pots near the entrance to make it look a bit nicer, but mostly it’s just brick and concrete and a lot of hard work.
