Guhan Nursery & Primary School

We are located at B 32 in the basement area of Lajpat Nagar. It is a busy part of Delhi so there is always noise outside but once you come down the steps into the school it gets a bit quieter. We started Guhan Nursery & Primary School because there were not many places for smaller kids around here. The rooms are not huge but we made them work with colorful walls and some mats on the floor for the toddlers. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when parents come to pick up their children in the afternoon. We have a few teachers who live nearby and they just walk to work. It is mostly local families who send their kids to us. We don't have a big playground since it is a basement but we use the space we have for basic games and learning the alphabet. There are some old cupboards where we keep the toys and books. The lighting is okay and we make sure the fans stay on during the summer months because Delhi gets really hot. We handle the nursery and primary classes and just try to get through the lessons every day without too much fuss. It is a simple place and we do not try to make it look fancy. People know us in the neighborhood as the basement school. We spend most of the morning helping the kids write their names and eat their lunch together. It is just a normal local school.
