Green Park Matric Higher Secondary School

Our school is over at B 61/62 in Mohan Gardens. It’s right on DK Road in Uttam Nagar, which is one of the busiest spots you can imagine in Delhi 110059. The traffic never really stops, so we are used to the sound of horns and engines while we work. Green Park Matric Higher Secondary School takes up a good bit of space on the block. We have the higher secondary students here, so the hallways are always full of older kids rushing to their next period. The building has seen a lot of students come and go over the years. We keep the gate shut during the day to keep the noise of DK Road out as much as possible. Inside the office, the shelves are sagging a little from all the old files and textbooks we’ve kept. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that; you just walk in and you're right there in the middle of it. The teachers spend their breaks sitting on the plastic chairs in the courtyard if it’s not too hot. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with every day, from attendance to exam marks. It’s a lot of manual work. The area around Mohan Gardens is very lived-in and we feel like we are just another part of the daily landscape here. It’s a solid building that does its job for the community.
