Green Land Public School

Sant Nagar in Burari is a very crowded and dense area, and Gali No 37 is just like any other busy street there. Our school is located at 1309 in Block B. If you have ever been to this part of Burari, you know that the streets are quite narrow and always filled with people, scooters, and small delivery vans. The school operates out of a building that goes up a few floors. The staircases are a bit narrow, so we always have to tell the kids to walk slowly when they are coming down for their morning assembly. We don’t have a big hall or an auditorium, so we use the open space on the ground floor for all our gatherings. The walls have been repainted a few times, but you can still see the marks where the students have leaned against them. It is a very busy and lively place to be. The sounds from the street—like the vegetable sellers and people shouting—always find their way into the classrooms. We have some old wooden desks that we keep fixing up because we want to make them last as long as possible. The staff room is quite small and usually has the smell of tea and biscuits in the morning. We don’t have much room for storage, so textbooks are often piled up high in the corners. It’s a real neighborhood school for the local families. We just take it one day at a time here.
