Green Gables International School

Lane Number 2 in Jamia Nagar is one of those places that feels very hidden away from the main bustle. You turn off the big road and suddenly you are in this narrow street where people seem to know all their neighbors. 38A is where we are located. It is an older building, nothing like the modern glass offices you see in other parts of Delhi. We have some cracks in the walls and the paint is peeling a little bit in the corners of the rooms. It is a very lived-in space that has seen many years of use. The mornings are always the busiest time when the sun hits the front of the house. We don’t have a large yard, just the small space out front where people park their cycles and scooters during the day. Inside, it is mostly quiet except for the sound of the teachers talking and the ceiling fans whirring. We don’t have a big separate office for the head of the school; it is just a desk in a room that we use for filing papers. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the small shop at the end of the lane when we have a break. The neighborhood is very lively and there is always some noise from the street nearby. It is not a quiet or isolated campus. It is just a part of the local street life here in Jamia Nagar. We just keep things moving as they are.
