You’ll find us at P-35/36 in Pandav Nagar, which is part of Mayur Vihar Phase 1. It’s a very residential area, so we are right in the middle of where people live. The school fits into the local street quite naturally. Sometimes the neighbors hear the kids during recess, but that’s just part of life here in Delhi. The building is functional. We have a couple of floors and we use every bit of space we have for the classrooms. It’s not the kind of place with a giant sports field, but we make it work with what we’ve got. The teachers usually walk to work or take a short rickshaw ride. We don’t have any slick brochures. Most people find out about us because they live just around the corner or they know someone whose kid comes here. In the winter, the sun hits the front of the building nicely in the mornings. We spend a lot of time checking notebooks and making sure the chalkboard is clean for the next lesson. It’s a straightforward operation. We don’t try to be something we aren’t. If a lightbulb goes out, one of us just goes and fixes it. It’s about being a part of the Pandav Nagar community and making sure the local children have a place to sit and study every day.
