Our shop is located at 950-953 in Maliwara, right in the Nai Sarak area. If you know Delhi, you know how crowded and tight these lanes can be. It’s a bit of a maze getting back here, especially when the handcarts are moving through with all the heavy bundles. We’ve got a few units joined together because one just wasn’t enough for all the stock we keep. It’s always busy here. From the moment we open the shutters in the morning until we close late at night, there’s always something happening. We have stacks of fabric piled high against the walls. The air smells like new cloth and old paper. We don’t have much space for a fancy lounge, so we just sit on stools or sometimes on the packed bundles when we take a break. My father started this years ago, and we’ve just kept it going the same way. We know the other shopkeepers around here well. We help each other out when someone is short on change or needs a hand moving something heavy. It’s a noisy, dusty place, but it’s where we belong. We deal with a lot of people every day, and it can be exhausting, but that’s the nature of Nai Sarak. We just focus on getting the orders out and making sure the counts are right. It is hard work but we are used to the noise and the rush.
