If you know Nehru Gali in Gandhi Nagar, you know it's a tight squeeze. We are at 9/6650. It’s one of those spots where there’s always something happening. You have people carrying huge bundles of cloth on their shoulders and carts pushed through the lanes. Our shop is right in the thick of it. Inside, we have stacks of our creations piled up. It is mostly fabric and finished goods filling every corner. We don’t have much room for a desk, so we usually sit where we can. The light in the Gali isn't great, but we have enough bulbs to see what we are doing. Gandhi Nagar is a place for people who know the trade. We have been here for years, through the rain and the heat. When it rains, the street gets a bit messy, but work doesn't stop. We keep the doors open and the fans on. It's a small space, but we manage to get a lot of work out of it. We don't do much marketing, people just know where we are at 9/6650. Most of our day is spent counting pieces and packing them into bags. It is honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until late evening. The tea stall nearby is where we get our breaks. It’s a simple life in a crowded market. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks as they come along. That is all there is to it.
