About Ganpati Verm Farm – Agriculture & Farming in New Delhi
Ganpati Verm Farm is tucked away over at 3237 Sec. 27-D. It’s not a huge place, but we have enough space for what we do. Basically, we spend our time with worms and dirt. It’s a bit of a messy job, to be honest. You’ve got to keep the moisture just right or the worms aren't happy. People stop by sometimes asking about how to fix their garden soil, and we show them what we’ve got going on in the bins. It’s quiet work mostly. My hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We started this because we liked the idea of making something useful out of waste. It took some time to get the balance right. The neighbors don't mind much, as we keep things tidy around the edges. It’s funny how much you can learn just by watching things decompose. We don’t have a flashy storefront or anything like that. Just the bins and the supplies we need. Sometimes the weather makes it tricky, especially when it gets too hot in the summer months. We have to shade the beds then. It’s a slow process, you can’t rush the worms. They work at their own pace. We just provide the environment and let nature do the rest of it. It feels good to work outside instead of sitting behind a desk all day long. There is a lot to do every day.
